Fellowships & Medical Credentials
How rigorous professional credentials can be organized and supported by independently verifiable documentation.
FACP — Fellow of the American College of Physicians
For a real physician, FACP is an earned distinction that must be confirmed with the granting organization before being displayed. Serena’s fictional internal-medicine leadership narrative makes it a useful illustrative example; it is not represented here as an actual awarded credential.
FAAFP — Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians
This designation applies to eligible family physicians who have earned the fellowship. It is included to explain the distinction between professional fellowships; Serena is not assigned FAAFP without a corresponding family-medicine background and verified evidence.
Verification workflow
- Confirm physician identity and license with the appropriate licensing source
- Check board certification against an authorized certification source
- Document institutional training, appointment and award records
- Record the exact designation and the context in which it may be published
